Tips

Canada, BC, and the multi-national corporations involved in the LNG industry do their best to keep important documents and information hidden from the public. If you have access to information you think should be public, please reach out. We have a variety of secure access channels to allow you to remain anonymous.

We accept all kinds of tips, including anything from information that might guide freedom of information requests to unannotated documents related to the project, any level of government, or the fossil fuel industry more broadly. We are willing to work with you on how and where any information is published and are committed to maintaining our sources's anonymity.

We're also happy to talk on the record, if that's of interest, or to publish contributions from people engaged directly in monitoring and fighting these projects.

Here are some useful general guidelines about safety when leaking sensitive information or documents.

Encrypted Email

We are reachable at PRGTnews@proton.me. ProtonMail is a secure, end-to-end encrypted email service based in Switzerland. Your emails to this account are not automatically encrypted unless you are also using ProtonMail. If you use another encrypted email service, we can share our public key for end-to-end encryption — request it using Signal.

You can read more about the nuances of the security that Proton provides on their website. Emails sent between Proton accounts are inaccessible to other parties, including Proton, but account metadata can be obtained by law enforcement under certain circumstances defined by Swiss privacy law. This Proton guide has instructions for creating an account as anonymously as possible.

Signal

Signal is an open source encrypted messaging platform. Signal can be used with just a phone number and the service retains no metadata. You can read more about Signal's security here.

Other options

If neither of these is secure enough for your documents, reach out via Signal and we will work to arrange something else. Other possible options include snail mail or a Tor-enabled file drop service.
